Daniel Propp

Senior Associate

Dan has nearly a decade of experience in energy and climate policy, spanning government, nonprofits, and the private sector. His principal areas of expertise include clean power, electricity grids, international affairs, and digital infrastructure.

Prior to joining CEA, Dan served as an energy officer at the U.S. Department of State, where he led the agency’s work on energy and AI and coordinated clean energy assistance in Latin America. Before that, he was the Senior Special Assistant for Policy at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy, where he contributed to reports, articles, podcasts, and events covering a wide range of energy and climate policy issues. Dan has written extensively on energy and climate, with articles in the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Hill, Inside Climate News, Heatmap News, and Latitude Media. He is a 2023 Council on Foreign Relations Young Professional, a 2023 Presidential Management Fellow, a 2024 Aspen Institute Future Climate Leader, and a 2026 member of Foreign Policy for America’s NextGen Initiative.

Dan holds a BA in earth science from Dartmouth College and an MPA in energy and environmental policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
