Allie Stankewich (she/her) joined CEA in 2026 as a Research Associate. She is passionate about the intersection of food justice, sustainability, and equitable community development and brings expertise in grant writing, network building, and grassroots project management. Prior to joining CEA, Allie served as President of the Student Environmental Action League and a member of the Compost Crew at her university. A recipient of the Earle Bates Prize for Environmental Citizenship, Allie invested in research, education, and advocacy on reducing food waste on campus and leading changes for greater sustainability in local food systems.
Allie furthered her enthusiasm for food and agriculture in East Africa, where she recently served as a Fulbright scholar. During her service, Allie was awarded a Projects for Peace grant to launch a project on community gardens and nutrition education in Tanzania and the Alice Rowan Swanson Fellowship to develop a fishery and youth empowerment program in Uganda. She holds a BA (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) in environmental studies and sociology from Washington and Lee University.
