Biography

Leah joined CEA in 2018 and is a Director in the Philanthropic Services practice. Her clients have included The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Oceankind, World Wildlife Fund, The Nature Conservancy, and Conservation International.

Before joining CEA, Leah spent three years as The David and Lucile Packard Foundation Ocean Research Fellow at the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment. In this role, she was engaged in strategy development, grantmaking, and evaluation across the Packard Foundation’s Ocean strategies. Prior to this, Leah was an advisor for the Pew Charitable Trust’s Global Shark Conservation Campaign and led a grassroots outreach and communications campaign focused on international trade of sharks and rays, national policies, and demand reduction. Leah was also an instructor at Yale University, where she taught a graduate-level course on international environmental governance and protected areas and was a Global Island Partnership Fellow.

Leah holds a Master of Environmental Science from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a BS in biology from McGill University. Her work has focused on marine conservation and has explored themes including community‐based management, climate change, small‐scale fisheries, and marine protected area governance. She has undertaken research in Ecuador, Indonesia, Palau, Fiji, and Panama.
