Doris Duke Charitable Foundation
Problem
The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation (DDCF) wanted to make an investment to support the use of incentive-based tools for biodiversity conservation in the U.S. It approached CEA for guidance to determine the most promising strategies and effective implementation plans.
Solution
CEA assessed a number of incentive models and evaluated opportunities for financial leverage. After analyzing multiple investment opportunities, CEA provided a recommendation for the program design and its implementation.
Result
Based on CEA’s recommendations, DDCF invested $5 million to establish the Center for Conservation Incentives with the aim of increasing the quantity and efficiency of biodiversity conservation on private lands.
